Academies and Apprenticeships
NHS Lothian works in partnership with the Princes Trust to offer the Facilities Academy and the Laboratory Academy. This is for young people aged 16 to 24 years. The academies run for six weeks; two of which are live work experience within a hospital setting. The academy could lead to permanent employment within NHS Lothian. For further information, phone 0800 842 842 or visit their website
NHS Lothian offers a number of modern apprenticeships every year. Modern apprenticeships help employers to develop their workforce by training new staff and developing new skills in their existing employees. For individuals, a modern apprenticeship is a job that lets them earn a wage and gain an industry recognised qualification.
They are open to anyone aged 16 to 24 years. The estates department have offered apprenticeships in joinery, plumbing, mechanical and electrical. The laboratory department also offers two year modern apprenticeships in Laboratory Associated Technical Activities. All our modern apprenticeships posts are advertised on the NHS Scotland Recruitment website.
